This workshop has all the information you need to navigate the world of perinatal care in WNC. If you're trying to conceive, pregnant, or postpartum, or if you are a birthworker supporting pregnant folks, this course will give you information in a judgement-free zone, so you can make the most informed decisions for you and your family.

Are you thinking of conceiving and wondering what your care options are?
Did you just move to Western North Carolina and feel lost looking for options for prenatal and birth care?
Does something just not feel right with the model of care you are currently receiving?
Are you a birthworker who wants to be able to better educate and guide your clients to the right kind of care for them?

Then this workshop is for you!

Led by Melissa Poole, a WNC certified nurse-midwife, this workshop will focus on  
  • models of perinatal care in the United States
  • care options available in North Carolina and the Western portion of the state
  • risks and benefits of each option
Our goal is for you to be able to make the right decision for YOU and YOUR family!

This workshop includes:

-Discussion of different types of care providers as well as different birth locations
-Review of the shortcomings of the current system and tools to overcome those shortcomings
-Access to a list of local providers in the WNC area and their contact info
-Questions to ask yourself, partner, and provider when considering the care right for you
-Q&A with a local nurse-midwife

Meet Melissa Poole

Melissa, Certified Nurse Midwife, specializes in the fields of pregnancy, birth, postpartum, breastfeeding, newborn care, family planning, & wellness promotion. She has practiced in community settings, hospitals, freestanding birth centers, and internationally. 

She is passionate about educating people in their options and promoting shared decision making in healthcare.
